AMKA stands as one of the most exciting melodic techno acts to emerge from Italy’s thriving underground circuit. With an anthology of unreleased gems to his name, the burgeoning talent launched his debut Livestream initiative with a heady performance recorded at the breath-taking Monastero di Santa Maria Di Colonna in Puglia, Italy. Formed entirely of original Track IDs from start to finish, AMKA’s emphatic arrival on the scene nods to what is undoubtedly, the beginning of an incredibly successful career.

Welcome AMKA! Thanks very much for your time. Could you introduce yourself to our Only Techno readers?

Hello Only Techno readers! I’m AMKA, an electronic DJ and producer based in Italy, specializing in the world of melodic techno and house.
I’m thrilled to be here and share a bit about myself and my musical journey with all of you.

How would you describe your particular brand of techno?

I would describe my brand of techno as a fusion of emotive melodies and pulsating rhythms. My goal is to create an immersive experience that transcends the dancefloor, drawing listeners into a sonic journey that resonates on a deep emotional level.

What’s your creative process when making a record?

My creative process is an organic exploration of sound. It often starts with a mood or emotion I want to convey. I experiment with various melodies, textures, and rhythms until I find the perfect combination that captures the essence of the emotion I’m aiming for.

You just released your mammoth new single ‘Our Night’. How long has this one been in the works and how has the feedback been so far?

‘Our Night’ has been a labor of love, taking several months to fine-tune every detail. The feedback so far has been incredibly rewarding, with listeners connecting to the atmospheric elements and the evocative nature of the track and big acts like Adriatique, Agents Of Time playing the track around the globe.

Who are some of your key influences? Is there anyone outside of the techno scene that you feel inspires your music?

Beyond techno, my musical influences draw heavily from the dynamic realms of pop and rock.The fusion of these influences not only broadens my sonic horizons but also adds a unique flavor to my creative process.

Going back to the early days, what are your first core memories of music as a child and when did you know you wanted to pursue it as a career?

My earliest music memories involve playing guitar with my dad at home. Those moments sparked a love for music that stuck with me. As I grew, I realized music wasn’t just a hobby but a calling. It wasn’t a specific moment; it was a gradual understanding that my life would revolve around music.

You just did a livestream that was full of your own unreleased music. When can we expect the rest of these tracks to drop?

The unreleased tracks featured in the recent livestream will be released during the next year. For now I can only say that Vivid Memories will drop on February 12th and Timeless Dream will drop on February 16th.

You grew up in Italy, how has the local scene changed over the years? And do you think it’s changed for the better?

The local techno scene in Italy has evolved significantly over the years. From intimate underground gatherings to larger and more diverse events, the scene has embraced a broader spectrum of techno styles. I believe this change has been positive, fostering a vibrant and inclusive community of music enthusiasts.

Do you have any parting words of advice for our readers who are just starting out in their musical journeys?

Shift your mindset from dreaming to planning. Identify the right collaborators to bring your vision to life. Success in music is both a journey and a process—embrace it.
